Situation

The customer had the idea to create a food delivery project that would work like Uber:

  • the user orders lunch on the site;
  • the order is sent via the system to the nearest courier;
  • all food is Packed in a thermos bag, so the courier does not need to go anywhere for the order;
  • if the nearest courier has an insufficient quantity of goods or does not have the right one, the order goes
  • to another courier;
  • the courier delivers the order to the address.

In this case, the order is made without the operator's participation, and the courier delivers it within 10 minutes.

To ensure that customers are sure that they will get a fresh lunch, strict rules apply: from 8 to 11 am, chefs prepare food, delivery is open from 11: 30 to 16: 30, the menu is updated every day.

Aim

In fact, we had to figure out how the entire system would function, create a website, and develop an API for the courier and customer's mobile apps. Analytics and designing

The main idea of the project is fast delivery in 10 minutes. We have thought out how to distribute orders between couriers-quickly calculate the nearest suitable courier and give the order to him. We also worked out a system for controlling leftovers so that the order does not go to the courier who does not have the required number of meals.

Another important task of the business was: "simplify the order as much as possible". Therefore, you can enter the address or select it on the map (as it is more convenient), log in via social networks, and save several delivery addresses in your personal account.

Customers can pay for their order on the website — for this purpose, we have integrated payment acceptance with Russian Standard Bank. And to prevent couriers from receiving a lot of extra orders, users confirm their phone number via SMS. Solid convenience.

I wanted to create the impression of warm human service. Show that new home-cooked dishes are prepared every morning, that they are delicious, and delivered quickly. Therefore, the basis was chosen positive yellow, which is associated with food and causes appetite. Bright colored "delicious" illustrations were drawn to support it. They seem to be airbrushed, and together with the handwritten font create a mood of good and lamp service. I liked to create characters, come up with stories for illustrations, draw food, highlights, and shadows on it, so that you can see how delicious everything is here.

The customer also needed to have a complete picture before their eyes to make business decisions based on the data. This is why the service's back office is engaged in Analytics:

  • it calculates the delivery time — the minimum, maximum, and average values of all couriers and each one separately;
  • displays statistics on the orders of the most popular dishes, the most congested time periods.

An important point of any technology business is the ability to scale. We used the Symfony framework and developed a good API to make it easier to integrate the service with a mobile app. And since the service does not yet have an accounting system — we provided a painless integration "for the future "with any such system: 1C, My Warehouse, and others.

When we contacted Creonit, we only had a general idea of how our future service would work. There was no site design layout and corporate identity. Creonit specialists took on these tasks and successfully implemented them.

The next task was to create a mechanism of several components working with each other. The developers created an API on the site that is accessed by mobile apps for couriers and customers. Implemented a single database.
